Born and raised in Hawaii, Kona is the Principal Broker of Hilo Brokers, Ltd, a family owned brokerage created in 1992 committed to providing excellent results for their clients. For over 25 years, the company has grown with over a half billion in sales volume with continued returning satisfied clients.
After receiving a Regents Scholarship to attend UH Manoa in 1993 and being a walk-on member of the UH Manoa men’s basketball team, Kona received his Bachelor’s Degree and then continued his education at San Diego State University, receiving his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2002.
During his time in California, Kona began his career in real estate and finance in 1998 then launched his own real estate finance business. In 2005, the Island beckoned, and he moved back to Hilo to join his father, Kelly, stepmother, Sharon, and brother, Jake in the family brokerage.
In his free time, Kona enjoys hiking the slopes of the Hamakua Coast and exploring the natural beauty of the Big Island. He is a supporter of UH-Hilo athletics, having served as President of the University booster club as President and Director. He has also served several years as a lecturer in Real Estate and Finance at the UH-Hilo College of Business.
Kona lived abroad in Asia for several years, enjoys traveling internationally, and supports the Big Island community and non-profit organizations.

Kelly created Hilo Brokers, Ltd. in 1992.
He has lived in Hawaii for 40 years and sold real estate here for over 30 years.
Kelly is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH) with degrees in Tropical Agriculture and Political Science.
Kelly teaches Real Estate Finance at UH-Hilo.
His areas of expertise in real estate include: farmland, nurseries, ranches, agri-businesses, residential and commercial
Kelly was one of the first REALTORS to incorporate the Internet as a real estate sales tool. He saw the potential of reaching people world wide, and is currently developing an international division within Hilo Brokers, Ltd.
He is a dedicated tennis enthusiast and community volunteer whoshares his time between the towns of Hilo and Kamuela.
